Term 3 Week 8

Image
Kaya Parents, How did we get to Week 8 so fast? Here is some info on current happenings in the classroom and at school. BOOK CLUB / Novel Study Book Club will begin next week, with all students receiving a new novel to read for the next 5 weeks.  Every Monday morning, each child will receive a weekly schedule via One Note - Literacy Group Folder.  It would be great if you could have a look at the schedule each week and have your child explain to you what they are required to do to be ready for the 'Book Club Meeting' on Friday morning. This would be a great opportunity to have your child give a brief summary (retell the main events) on what has been happening in the story so far. Below are the different roles that your child will focus on over the next 5 weeks. Please no...

Culture Nature Challenge

Hello all and welcome to Culture, Nature, Challenge week!  The students and I are super excited for Thursday and Friday. It looks like we should be greeted with good weather. Maybe a little sprinkle of rain here and there? But all in all, it should be a great couple of days. INSIDE THE CLASSROOM Reading:  Beginning in Week 8 and running for 5 weeks, the Year Five classes will be participating in a Book Club. Each student will be placed into a reading group and will be assigned a particular novel to read. Each week, the members of the group will have to perform a different role and contribute to a Book Club meeting every Friday. Over the five weeks and on a rotation system, each student will have been responsible for being the director, illustrator, word finder, summariser and connector.  Over the next 2 weeks of this term, we will continue to model how to perform each role explicitly, so that they will ready for the Book Club. Culture, Nature and Challenge Days: An...
