Who says learning can't be fun?   You just need the right tools, engaging activities and thoughtful presentation to help children learn something new without feeling like they are being "taught." Here's what we've been up to . . .  NATIONAL SORRY DAY Friday 26 May 2023 These are important dates for us to acknowledge as we work towards harmony and inter-cultural understanding as a nation. We went down to the mia-mia with our Year 1K buddy class and special four-legged guest, Miss Jilly Duffield.                       PERSUASIVE ADVERTISING Friday 19 May 2023 We decided to beat the professional graphic designers at their own game and re-invented the packaging for our favourite chips! Zoe and Keenan explained the project and persuasive devices used, to our Year 1K buddies, who voted for which chips they would buy based on the packet design.             HASS - BUSHFIRES Thursday 25 May 2023 Golly gosh, who are these mongrels :) We made the most of the sunny weather

Term 2 Week 5

Dear Parents, "Friday Football Madness!" What unadulterated, amateur, footballing joy that was, even though DPS have bragging rights for the year. We are so proud of Mr. Jones, Mr. Mac, Ms. Horrocks, and so many of our Year 5 mums and dads who went into battle for OLC.  Special mention must go out to the fans. Having some serious team spirit includes not only shouts of, "Bend it like Beckham!" and "Suuuuiiii" but also, "Run, Mister Joooones... yay, shoot... NOOOOOO!!!!"   Yoga: We had a lovely and very timely session on Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Heather Starr, in which the students had a chance to experience a guided meditation, that included a gong, sound bowl and rain stick! Some of the wriggliest among us were lulled into calm, relaxed .... zzzzzzzz's (I'm pretty sure). We will have another session this Thursday ...a massive thank you to all involved in facilitating this experience, we loved it! Drum roll please  ....... Congratulat

Dear Parents, In this gorgeous chaos that is childhood, I just want to take the time to tell you that on a daily basis your children make my heart gleam; in fact,  I would give the first two weeks of Term 2 a perfect ten ! We prayed daily, wrote down what we are grateful for, played Times Tables shootout and Bull Cow Sheep, and are immersed in all forms of "Persuasion" including - advertising art on chip packets, debating (vociferously) whether "Children should be paid to come to school," unpacking the structure of persuasive writing, and reading opposing stances on killer sharks. We had a Pep Talk from Kid President, were inspired by 'Austin's Butterfly,' and somehow managed to squeeze in some spelling, geography, capacity and measurement too. YEAR 5/6 LEADERSHIP DAY Our Year 5 and 6 students will be very fortunate to attend a special Leadership Day in the hall on Monday the 22nd of May. The wonderful Mrs Meyer has arranged for the students to have an i
