CNC photos and more .....

Dear Parents,

A note from our guide, James (Cape to Cape Explorers).......

"Just wanted to pass on my thanks to your incredible teachers and parent helpers. The team feel you have a wonderful group of students who have been a real pleasure to work with. A fantastic few days!"

And here are some photos from my Bobtail Group ...... Day 1 - Prevelley Loop and Ellensbrook House

Day 2 Photos - Cape to Cape track and Calgardup Cave

What a rich learning experience it was for everyone. Not only the incidental skills of perseverance, collaboration, being present in the moment, appreciation for our environment, mindfulness...... but goodness me, I can't put into words how happy, rejuvenating and grounding the two days were.
My sincere thanks to Cape to Cape Explorers, the parent helpers and most of all your beautiful kiddos. It was a pleasure to share this extraordinary experience with you all.

Open Class - Learning Journey:  SAVE THE DATE!!

On Wednesday 13th September (week 9) our classrooms will be open from 3.15 - 5pm for you to come and spend some time with your child to look through what we've been working on in class. We look forward to seeing you there.

Correct Uniform...is your child wearing it?

We have noticed some incorrect uniform items appearing again. We please ask that you check your child is following the schools uniform policy before they walk out the door each day.

- Girls Winter Formal Uniform - white shirt & skirt, plain white socks/tights, all black shoes
- Boys Winter Formal Uniform - grey shorts or pants, white shirt, plain grey socks, all black shoes
- Sports Uniform - black school shorts or trackpants (no leggings), faction or leavers polo, plain white socks and predominately white/black/grey sneakers.
- Accessories - sleepers or small stud earrings only, catholic pendant and necklace only, no bracelets, school hat only, school coloured scrunchies, headbands and ribbons.

Repeat offenders will be followed up with by Admin and a call will be made home. We thank you for your continued support with this.

Interesting Read

As a Mum of two boys, I have often found myself asking at various stages of boyhood, "What's happening with my boy?"
(Not to leave the girls out..... I'm sure Mum's with daughters can relate too.......)
There are some developmental windows that can be more tricky than others, and our boys are often responding to significant, invisible changes happening within them. I recently read an article by Maggie Dent (a school teacher and Mum of four boys), who said that there is an 800% increase in testosterone in our boys at this age, bringing about changes physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively! Holy Moly! No, an alien hasn't stolen your child, it's just a time of incredible transformation! Sorry Mums, but according to Maggie, at this very age our boys kick us off to the side, and Dad becomes the centre of his world......she suggests being compassionately patient, and to know that a well-timed, unexpected fart next to your son is agreat way of bonding :-)

Here is a link to Maggie's website:

When my son, Manoa was a toddler, I read a book "Raising Boys" by Steve Biddulph, an Australian psychologist for 30 years, now retired but he continues to write and speak ..... I must say that there are very few books that have stayed in my heart and mind more than this one. I had the privilege of attending an evening with Steve Biddulph at Aquinas College a couple of years ago, and again found that time both enlightening and hilarious! In an increasingly complicated world, raising boys to become emotionally strong, kind and resilient men is even more important, and Steve has updated his book to include advice for parents in today's climate, such as showing your child that whether it be in the classroom or out on the footy field, they are active participants in their world, with the power to teach and of choice.

"Enjoy your boy, love him well, and set him free to fly in his own special way!"
And on that note, I wish you all a glorious Father's Day weekend!

God bless.

Warmly,
Anne Coltrinari
