Term 4 Week 8

 KAYA, Welcome to Week Eight!

Well, summer has officially arrived and so have the flies!

Even though we are winding down, the classroom is still busy with  Six Seasons explanations, novel study booklets, student CV's for 2024 leadership team positions, and a number of mathematics concepts such as coordinates, scale and compass points to name a few.

Almost there......

IMPORTANT DATES - Term 4 (more information can be found on the school website)
  1. Wednesday 29th November - OLC Christmas Concert
  2. Friday 8th December - OLC Colour Run and Last day of School

CHRISTMAS CONCERT PREPARATIONS

As you would have read in the newsletter, preparations are well underway for our end of year concert which will be held on Wednesday 29th November beginning at 5.30pm.

Year 5C students are being asked to dress as cows -  white t-shirt with black cut-outs and a headband with cow ears.

Over the next couple of days, the whole school will be rehearsing every morning on the oval, so please send your child in to school with sunscreen applied, their hat and a full water bottle.

JUNIOR ARCHIE CLASSROOM WALK THROUGH / CHRISTMAS CONCERT

To coincide with the Christmas Concert on Wednesday, both classes will be open from 3:30pm - 5:15pm for you to come and check out the fantastic portraits that the students have created.

Get here early, find a good carpark, a great spot for the rug and come into the classroom to be amazed by the talented Year Fives.

ALL STUDENTS SHOULD BE IN THE CLASSROOM NO EARLIER THAN 5:00pm and NO LATER THAN 5:15pm. THIS ALLOWS US TO SETTLE THE KIDS DOWN BEFORE HEADING TO THE CONCERT.

This time can also be used to have a fitting for next year's leavers shirts, if you haven't already done so.

CLASS LISTS 2024

In the newsletter last week, it was officially announced that Caitlin Delane and Nicholas Jones will be teaching the Year Six classes in 2024. I will be sitting down with Mr Jones over the next week to formulate next year's classes. We consider a range of factors including social, emotional and cognitive, as well as, well-being surveys and past teachers to ensure that each child is placed into a class that will see them flourish in their final year at OLC.
A message with your child's class teacher will be sent to your phone at the conclusion of Week Ten.

Semester Two Reports

Grades and comments are being finalised into next week and formal reports will be sent home in electronic form via SEQTA on the final day of term.

Our Semester Two reports grading align with the Western Australian curriculum and achievement standards for Year 5.

VINNIES HAMPER APPEAL

Each year at OLC we take time to be thankful for our blessings and to assist those local people in need by contributing to Christmas Hampers distributed by the St Vincent De Paul Society.

Year 4, 5 & 6: Toiletries, chocolates, tinned fruit, non-perishable fruit juices, nuts, small gifts, pampering items, gift vouchers (Kmart, coffee, etc).

Thank you to those families that have already sent in some donations.

Drum roll please ......

Congratulations to Jobe Sherry and Keenan Rogan for receiving merit awards recently! And to Zoe Starr for receiving our Star Citizen award for Excellence.

...... but can you get anymore awesome?

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Until next time ...... choose kind and HYDRATE.
