Class Culture
Dear Parents,
Apologies for the late message... I was glued to the Matilda's inspirational performance; they showed so much heart!
Today, as a class the students participated in creating our classroom creed (in their own words) based around the four school core values of Compassion, Appreciation, Respect and Excellence. Having a positive classroom culture that encourages participation, is one of the most important elements of a successful learning environment. Students have more likelihood of success when they feel connected to school and feel that teachers care about them as people as well as their learning.
Here it is:
Starting tomorrow, all of us in 5C will encourage, and give each other opportunities to put into action our classroom culture, and praise each other for doing so. As positive reinforcement I have set up a "raffle ticket" reward system, where students recieve a ticket when I and/or any teacher see them putting our values in action. When a student has collected ten tickets they get an instant lucky dip reward, with prizes including "Teacher's chair for a day," "Scooby Doo prize box," "Class DJ," "Ten minutes shooting hoops," etc.
I have high expectations for your child, both in their learning and their behaviour, and would love your support in encouraging your child to actively engage in this. Thanks so much.
Warmly,
Anne Coltrinari
