Term 2 Week 3
In this gorgeous chaos that is childhood, I just want to take the time to tell you that on a daily basis your children make my heart gleam; in fact, I would give the first two weeks of Term 2 a perfect ten! We prayed daily, wrote down what we are grateful for, played Times Tables shootout and Bull Cow Sheep, and are immersed in all forms of "Persuasion" including - advertising art on chip packets, debating (vociferously) whether "Children should be paid to come to school," unpacking the structure of persuasive writing, and reading opposing stances on killer sharks. We had a Pep Talk from Kid President, were inspired by 'Austin's Butterfly,' and somehow managed to squeeze in some spelling, geography, capacity and measurement too.
Our Year 5 and 6 students will be very fortunate to attend a special Leadership Day in the hall on Monday the 22nd of May. The wonderful Mrs Meyer has arranged for the students to have an inspirational speaker for the day. This event has been supported by the P&F. This will be a whole day presentation and the students will be required to wear their sports uniform please. This is a wonderful privilege for our students and will hopefully aid in the students becoming the best leaders they can be.

I have told the class that NO toys from home are to be brought into school, as these are disrupting our learning. Bouncy balls, plush toys, etc. will be confiscated and returned at the end of term.
Also, all students are to bring their diary into school with them daily. This is beneficial for their organizational skills, to record and plan events, and set and achieve goals in readiness for high school.
I would appreciate your support in this.
Our OLC character strength for this week is Judgement.
"Teach me good judgement and knowledge, for I believe in your commandments. Before I was humbled, I went astray, but now I keep your word." Psalm 119:66
Hello families, if you are planning to be away at all this Term and/or away for the Dance Concert, can you please email me, ellie.haines@cewa.edu.au so I can plan accordingly. I only get to see your children for 1 hour a week and have had a lot of students telling me that they will be away this term/for the concert etc but need confirmation from parents please. Thank you- Mrs Haines.
Mother's Day - As we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, I want to recognize that being a mother is one of the toughest and most rewarding jobs out there, and I have the privilege of seeing your hard work and love in action every day. Your support is invaluable to your child's success.
My warmest wishes to all the mothers in our school community. Happy Mother's Day.
