Term 2 Week 1

Kaya Team 5L,

While Holly enjoys a well-earned, extended holiday, I am so pleased to step into her role as classroom teacher this term. As much as I consider and account for all aspects of the classroom, different learning approaches, seating arrangements, presentation of content...... nothing shapes my plans more than your children, the students. It would be remiss of me not to tell you how fantastic they are, without exception! I have got to know each of them pretty well in my various roles at OLC over the past 6 years, and through social occasions, sport and out of school catch-ups, as Manoa's Mum.
It is a blessed privilege indeed, for me to call them “my” children for Term 2.

IN THE CLASSROOM

I have had a thorough handover with Holly, and will continue the timetable, routines and programs she started in Term 1. Nick in 5J has brought me up to speed with the planning for the term, and I am grateful to have his voice of reason and experience next-door. Word on the street is that Nick and I make a great team... though I'm not sure if that's like 'yin and yang' or 'cops and robbers'!!

English

We will be hitting the ground running with a 'Narrative Hot Task' for the students to showcase their learning from Term One. We will then begin our Persuasive Writing unit in Week 2.

Mathematics

Our new investigation 'Down the Drain' will be launched on Wednesday. The students will be exploring capacity, volume and mass, graduated scales, line graphs and units of measurement before completing the investigation.

You will be able to see the final product via SeeSaw.
