 Kaya Families of 5R and Welcome to Week 3











It has been a while since we have been in touch, so I just wanted to pop on here and give everyone a bit of a run down of how the next week is looking with a reminder of a few expectations in year 5. 


Timetable for Term 2 


















Uniform Reminder 
  • This week we transition into winter uniform. 
  • Please remember there are no branded (nike or santa cruz) socks to be worn with the sports or formal uniform. 
  • Students must only wear their woolen v-neck jumper with their formal uniform and teal jumper or black jacket only with sports uniform. 
  • Students must have a school hat to be worn at recess, lunch and during sporting activities. 
Library 
  • Please make sure your child has a library bag which they bring along to school every Thursday. A lot of students are not able to borrow due to this. 
Stationary 
  • If you could please check in with your child and ask whether they are needing anymore pencils, glue-sticks and pens (or anything else), that would be greatly appreciated. It is only week 2 of Term 2 and we have had to dive into our stationary spares many times this week.
Homework
  • This is now a weekly thing, with times-tables and Reading log due in every Friday. 
  • Please sign off when your child has finished and encourage them to mark their times tables using a calculator once finished, it is great for them to see where they may have gone wrong).
  •  I will also place a signature or stamp at the bottom of each page once I have checked it off at the end of each week
  • The students can access how to set out their times-tables homework in OneNote under the Homework tab.
Laptops
  • Please make sure laptops are coming to school charged. 
  • As a school, we are cracking down on ICT infringements which a student can receive for using their laptop in class for things other than work, searching inappropriate content or coming to school with an uncharged laptop).

Parent/Teacher Meetings 
  • These may now run face to face this term (yipeeee) 
  • Please just shoot me an email if you would like to request one. 
NAPLAN 
  • This commences Tuesday. 
  • It will run an hour on Tuesday and Wednesday of week 3 and 4 (9:30am) 
  • This is online so it is very important the students have their laptops ready!

Operation Christmas Child / Home Learning

  Hi team, Just a quick blog post regarding 'Operation Christmas Child' and 'Home Learning'. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD You would have received a handout last week explaining the following: All the children in Year Five will soon  participate in  'Operation Christmas Child' which is an initiative with the goal of packing shoeboxes full of little surprises to give to a child who may have never received a gift before. By participating in this, our children will have a first hand experience aimed at building the school value of compassion.  Your child will be grouped with four other children to contribute and pack the shoe box. The cost to send a shoe box will be  $2.50 per child .  We are asking you to encourage your child to do something extra at home to earn the money that is needed to buy the item to put into the provided shoe box.
