Kaya and Welcome to Week 7

Dear Parents, Families and Caregivers,

What a crazy busy (short) week we have had in 5R!

Today we had our class mass which was a great opportunity for the students to reflect on the meaning of Lent and how we can take action to walk in the footsteps of Jesus during this time.  Take a look at some of the images I have attached from the reverent  time we had together this afternoon.

Merit Awards

  • Congratulations to Isla McLaren for this weeks merit award and to Scarlett Bickett for last weeks Star Citizen award for compassion.

Homework
  • Please access the last blog if you needed a reminder on the homework the students are to be completing at the moment.
  • On Monday students need to bring in their homework books so that they can glue in some extra times tables practice for the week. Friday they also need to bring it in for fortnightly marking.

A message from Miss Hurst in year 6 about World Down Syndrome Day:

Dear Parents,

As you may already be aware World Down Syndrome Day on the 21st of March.  To celebrate this day this year, we are holding a whole school activity centred around the celebration of the day whilst also raising awareness and raising some money for the Down Syndrome WA organisation at the same time. On Monday the 21st of March, we will be hosting a crazy sock day at school. However, it will have a twist, the students will design their sock in art the week before the date (next week). This will celebrate everybody and their individualities and their creativities. What we need from you? Can you please send an old light coloured pair of socks to school with your child next week? (Please do not purchase a new one). Can you please make sure that the socks have the students name on the inside? The students will then decorate them during art class. It will be amazing to see all those sock designs on the day and would be a great way to reiterate the true meaning of the day about celebrating people's uniqueness. Then on the 21st of March, the students will wear their awesome designed socks and if possible, bring a gold coin donation for Down Syndrome WA.

Thank you,

Miss Hurst

Diaries

  • Just a friendly reminder to please encourage your child to use their diary. Our focus at the moment, is remembering to write our homework in it.

Thank you so much for your cooperation and I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Take care and God bless,

Miss Rees
