Kaya and Welcome to Week 5

 


Kaya Everyone, 


I hope you have all had a fantastic week. We have been very busy in 5R this week finishing off our Bushfire Art, familiarising ourselves with Reading groups and getting a little more settled into daily routine. 

Here are a few things to update you on:

Homework 

  • This will be marked on a fortnightly basis. 
  • Students are to complete the set times tables homework each week. 
  • students should be doing 20 minutes of times tables practice (2-3 boxes and if they finish early that's great, no problems). 
  • They also need to do 20-40 minutes of reading. This week they were to practice their Talk 4 Writing text (The Canal) and this will continue for Week 5 however, I recommend they practice the text then do some leisurely Reading which they can record in their Reading log (I will show the students how to access this on Monday in OneNote). 
  • Can you please sign the reading log digitally by writing your name at the bottom each week.
Uniforms 
  • Just to remind you, the students must be wearing the correct socks to school. These are white non- branded ankle height socks.
  • Boys must tuck in their shirts (for ordinary uniform).
  • hair tied up if below collar line. 
 Mask Wearing 

  • As you are probably aware, case numbers are quickly rising in WA, meaning we need to strengthen our precautionary practices around school. 
  • If your child owns a mask, please encourage them to wear it. This time is a great opportunity for us to prepare even though it is not yet compulsory for years 3-6. 
  • We will be providing the students with "mask breaks" throughout the day when we are all wearing them and they become compulsory.

Wk 3 Liturgy

Please find the attached image from our whole class liturgy where the students wrote a note stating what they should say more often to someone they love.

Sugar Overload

Kaya Parents, Sorry to bust in on your weekend... I would like your support with our Sugar Overload project. Please assist your child with going through some pantry items or take them along to Coles on your next shop, so they can read the nutritional panel on packages and record the amount of sugar per 100g serve of the product.   I would like just the data collection done and ready to go by Monday morning. . . handwritten on note paper is fine, the children can tabulate on Word during class time. Kaya parents and families of 5R and welcome back to term 4! I hope you all had a refreshing break and enjoyed the time spent with your loved ones.  Character Strength of the week:   Grandparents Day and 5R Assembly Week 3 Friday It would be really great to present some photos of the children with their Grandparents over a PowerPoint on the day along with their exciting presentation.
